Great article. Can you explain this for me, because I’ve been having trouble: I know a few sites which are ran by friends and they are PR4, and they receive something like 2000 uniques a month. Now I have a pr2 site which receives the same. Can you tell me why mine is better than theirs even with PR?

I think PR doesn’t really have anything to do with traffic (in response to the last commenter). It’s really more about the link profile. It doesn’t matter much to ANYTHING unless you want to use another service that relies on it (like selling your site on flippa.com). Much better to look at traffic and monetization than PR!

It is difficult to build incoming links from appropriate and relevant sources, especially for receiving targeted traffic and not just visits from fly-by visitors.

Does Google frown upon receiving such inbound links in such quick succession? and what/if any guarantees are given that my website would not become blacklisted?

Local painters, it could be that you have enough high PR links to your site which has raised the ranking of your site in the search engines. It could show that PR doesn’t have much of an indication on the quality of a site as some people might think.

It has to do with the amount of traffic that you recieve to your site. Maybe more people go to your site than your friends site. It is not always about pagerank it has to do with traffic.
